RULES AND EXPLANATION
  • Participation
To participate in this Tour de France game is really easy. In fact all you have to do, is pick your nine favorite cyclists and three pro-teams. Once you have done that all you have to do is hope that they will do well in the 1997 Tour de France. You don't need any knowledge about cycling at all. Here are the names of some famous cyclists.

  • Where and how do I pick those ten cyclists?
In this year's Tour de France will be 22 teams with nine cyclists each (So...198 cyclists in total). You'll have to pick nine cyclists, three pro-teams and fill them in on the form on the apply page. You can send in your team until July 6th 9:00am GMT
You can also give the name of three reserves drivers and one reserve team, who will be added to your team in case one or more cyclists/teams don't start the Tour de France. They will be added in the sequence you put them on the form.
Of course when somebody gives up while the Tour de France is already on its way, he will not be replaced.
There is no limit on how many cyclists you pick from one particulicar raceteam, but there is on your number teams: Only one team per participant (either e-mail or name, I decide).

  • How to become the best?
As I already mentioned before you have to hope that the cyclists you picked will do really well in this Tour de France. How good is good? Let's see.
You can score points with every driver in your team. The exact team will be made up the day the Tour starts. You can score points each day when a stage is driven. You will score points when one (or more) of your cyclists:
    1. finishes the stage in the top 6
    2. is in the top 3 of the overall classification after a stage
3 leads the points-classification (green jersey)
4 leads the mountain-classification (dotted jersey)
    5. is in the top 10 when the Tour is over
    6. is in the top 5 of the points or mountains standings when the Tour is over

And when one of your chosen pro-teams is one of the best three after the Tour is over.
To make it more clear all is in the table below.
