Dijon is one of the oldest cities to host the Tour. Pottier won there in 1906. The capital of Burgundy, a city of art and history, it also is a gastronomical site. Wine from the "Côte d'Or" is one of the most prestigious in the world. Dijon makes you think of mustard, gingerbread, cassis and Kir, the famous aperitif made of white wine and cassis invited by canon Kir; Dijon also played an important role in the cycle industry with the Terrot brand. It was home to Bossuet, Rameau and sculptor Rude. The stage, which lacks any major difficulty, goes through Villersexel, where Bourbaki beat the Prussians in 1871, and ends in the capital of "Côte d'Or." |
