Stage 3
Vire - Plumelec
224km
A transition stage that associates Normandy to Bretagne, two big cycling regions. The Tour enters Brittany through Louvigné du Désert, near Saint Georges de Reintembault. It's the country of granite, which gave the north of France its famous cobblestones. There is also Saint Meen le Grand, where Louison Bobet, Jean Bobet and Frédéric Guesdon were born.
Between Saint Meen and Josselin, the route goes along the Paimpont forest, which used to be the Brocéliande forest, a legendary land where the knights of the round table lived, then gets to Plumélec and its cycling tradition.
