![]() St.Valery- en-Caux - Vire 262km |
![]() |
From the "côtes de la Manche" region to the Normandy bocage, from the "Pays de Caux" area to that of the "Pays d'Auge," stage two crosses Normandy, symbolized by the milk cow and the apple tree. It's the country of butter, cheese, cider and "calvados." Slightly hilly in the beginning, a little more in the last part from Falaise on, it crosses Lisieux, known for its basilica and pilgrimages, as well as the "Pont de Brotonne," and gets to Vire, the capital of grove and tripe - the famous "andouille de Vire," a kind of sausage made of pig's intestines - a city that was put to the test during World War II. Its 262 kilometers make it the longest stage of the Tour. |
